Remembering the 11th of September
Today, the 11th of September, is the anniversary of an infamous event. I am referring of course to the 1973 military coup in Chile, lead by general Augusto Pinochet against the democratically elected president Salvador Allende.
It is worth remembering the events of 1973. If not for anything else, we should not forget the role played by the american government and the CIA in overthrowing Allende's presidency (and history will tell just how direct that involvement was in the coup), and their subsequent support to Pinochet's murderous regime. Which leads us back to that other 11th of September, and Bush's pretense policy of "spreading democracy". As if we had no memory.
