POV-Ray is a raytracing programme. It takes as input a scene described in its SDL (Scene Description Language), and outputs a photo-realistic rendering of that scene. Since it takes into account shadows, reflections, refractions, textures, and whatnot, the results can be stunning!

As it turns out there will be another section in nleyten. It made sense to have "Links" for those stories which are little more than just a link to some interesting place on the web. For the icon I decided to brush up on my POV-Ray skills and create a 3D model of a series of interlocked chains, aka, "links". Here is the result with a silvery finish: (the actual icon used in nleyten will have a golden finish instead)
